How it works

Timescales depend on the stone, the burial ground and any permit requirements. We will explain those factors before you commit.

Common questions

Practical answers, without jargon

From when a headstone can be installed to whether a photograph or personal design is allowed, the rules vary. We will check the details for the burial ground concerned.

Read all FAQs
How soon after a burial can a headstone be installed?

The ground normally needs time to settle. Around six months is common, but the burial authority and ground conditions determine the actual timing.

Can you add lettering to an existing memorial?

Usually, yes, provided there is enough space and the burial authority gives permission. The memorial may need to be removed while the work is completed.

Can a memorial include a photograph or personal design?

Often it can, although every cemetery and churchyard has its own rules. We can check what is permitted before design work begins.
